Meet The Creative Sage Craft Fairy

  I am definitely what you might call a multi-passionate creative. If it involves trying a new art or craft and buying supplies, I’m usually all in and I LOVE to provide as much variety as possible for the shop inventory. 

But in addition to what I purchase for the shop, what you might not know is that I also am also constantly on the look-out for crafty supplies that just aren’t getting the love they deserve anymore, living in dark basements and garages and perhaps need a new home. 

You might be surprised to learn how many people would love to craft and create but simply cannot afford to purchase the supplies that they need. 

That’s where the Craft Fairy Program steps in! 

I created the program after meeting a lovely woman several years ago. She is the remarkable human that changed the way I think about crafts and supplies and why I knew something needed to be done.

Eleven years ago, while Gary and I had an artsy-craft shop and gallery, this lovely woman came in and softly asked if she could purchase one single glue stick. Not a package—just one. Her child had a project and they needed hot glue but money was tight. I sent her home with a bag full of glue sticks and art supplies but my heart was heavy and I knew I had to do something. 

What blind-sided me was the realization that something I had always taken for granted—basic creative supplies—were often completely out of reach for many families.

The very next day, I put out a quiet call for donated art and craft supplies that people were no longer using. The response was overwhelming. People were incredibly generous because humans are amazing and have the most beautiful hearts!

From that point on, I made sure word traveled: if someone needed creative supplies and did not have the resources, they should most definitely come see me. It was an absolute privilege.

Now that I have the Shop here at the Cottage, I have again started to collect “extra” craft, stamping, scrapbook etc supplies that are sitting around collecting dust. The generosity of people never ceases to take my breath away! I have a constant supply of crafty treasure in one of our buildings and the moment I hear of someone who either can’t afford to purchase supplies, has lost their belongings due to fire etc or just needs a little crafty “pick-me-up” I obtain the address or connect with someone who knows the intended recipient and a magical crafty care package is either mailed off or dropped off at their door. 

You would probably not be surprised to know what a difference a basket of craft supplies can make!

The only note they receive is that they are loved and “Happy Crafting from your favorite Craft Fairy."

No name, no tracing…just a whole lot of crafty goodness!

SO…if you are a craft supply hoarder; ahem…collector like me and need a little space so you can “collect” new supplies, PLEASE REACH OUT! I am always looking for like-new craft supplies that can be passed on to someone who needs them.
